Belgian shipowner Compagnie Maritime Belge (CMB) has quietly expanded its fleet with an order for stainless-steel chemical tanker newbuildings.

Chief commercial officer Benoit Timmermans confirms the company has inked a deal for four 25,000-dwt tankers to be built at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Yangzhou (CMJL Yangzhou), the former AVIC Dingheng Shipbuilding.

“It was originally two, we have lifted the options so it is four firm ships,” he said.
