Seaborne trade appears set to be around one billion tonnes less than expected in 2020, as shipping markets grapple with the sharpest decline in demand for four decades.

In its latest update on the impact of Covid-19, Clarksons Research said trade fell by over 10% in May, and that there are now tentative signs of seaborne activity starting to pick up from the bottom.
