“Crude tanker may record more scrapping than newbuilding order placed, an indication of very bearish consensus sentiment toward crude tankers owners,” analyst Johnson Leung said in his weekly report.

“For two years in a row now, ship owners have scrapped more than crude tankers versus what they have ordered for the same year, which makes sense since crude tanker owners are enduring the third year of negative returns to capital.”
