Fukuoka Shipbuilding’s announcement that it has taken over Usuki Shipbuilding consolidates stainless-steel chemical shipbuilding in Japan.
The Kyushu-based builder said it had acquired more than 90% of shares in its near neighbour Usuki this week.
Japan is the largest producer of stainless-steel chemical tankers with Usuki and Fukuoka major builders in the sector.
