The International Transport Intermediaries Club (ITIC) has warned of the costly consequences of misdescribing vessels' oil company approvals.
The insurer said it had paid out a "substantial" amount to a charterer after a pool manager mistakenly said a tanker was acceptable to an oil major, even though he had received an email from the shipowner before fixing that said the ship had been rejected.
