The reappearance of an Iranian VLCC on AIS for the first time in six months indicates Tehran does not intend to interfere with shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, a consultancy said.

This is despite threats and retaliatory attacks against the US following the assassination of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani in Iraq on 3 January.

The 318,000-dwt Stream (built 2013), operated by National Iranian Tanker Co, was showing an AIS signal on Wednesday from an anchorage off Khor Fakkan in the United Arab Emirates.
