The leader of a major Jones Act tanker owner says his company would not be hurt by a temporary waiver of the cabotage scheme said to be being considered by President Donald Trump.

However, Overseas Shipholding Group chief executive Sam Norton blasted any prospective waiver on general principles, saying there is no valid reason to grant one.

Norton responded to a query from TradeWinds on Thursday on a research note penned by Michael Webber of Webber Research & Advisory.
