Performance Shipping says Aramco Trading made it an offer it couldn't refuse.

The New York-listed shipowner said on Monday that it broke with its spot-focused strategy in fixing the 104,623-dwt Blue Moon (built 2011) to the Saudi Arabia-backed trading house for between 17 and 19 months at $28,000 per day.

"Our commercial management strategy for our tankers is focused on voyage charters that provide our shareholders with exposure to cyclical fluctuations in charter rates," said Performance deputy chief executive Andreas Michalopoulos.
