Japan Marine United (JMU) has won an order for a suezmax tanker newbuilding from Greece's Samos Steamship.

Shipbuilding sources said Athens-based Samos has commissioned the Japanese yard to build the 159,000-dwt crude carrier for delivery in 2021. It is not known whether the contract includes options for additional vessels.

An executive at JMU declined to comment on the company’s shipbuilding activities, citing contract confidentiality, while Samos did not respond to an email request for comment.
