Greece’s Sea Pioneer is refuting reports that linked it to the purchase of three large oil carriers last month.

London brokers identified the Vassilis Bacolitsas-led company as the buying party in a $40m deal to acquire two suezmax-size product tankers from German KG (limited partnership) owners – the 159,400-dwt Cape Baxley (built 2003) and Cape Bellavista (built 2002).

In the week before, the company was linked to yet another purchase, of Sovcomflot’s 159,200-dwt crude carrier SCF Altai (built 2001) for $17.7m.
