China’s Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) is marketing two VLCC newbuilding berths with early delivery at an “attractive price”.
Industry sources said the state-owned shipyard is seeking about $84m apiece for the 300,000-dwt crude tankers that would deliver in September 2020 and March 2021.
Officials at SWS declined to comment on the berth slots.
Sources cited shipping billionaire John Fredriksen as one of the owners in talks with SWS about ordering the large tanker newbuildings.
