A new generation of Norway's Roed family has moved into the shipping market as the low-key Norse Group has started doing business again.

Norse sold two kamsarmax bulker newbuildings in 2013 and had remained fairly inactive until recently, when the group bought two supramax bulkers and a MR product tanker in off-market deals.

TradeWinds can reveal that Singapore-based Sebastian Roed, 34, is now leading the day-to-day operations at the company, although he stressed that his grandfather, shipowner Jan Petter Roed, 87, remains actively involved in the business.
