Japan’s Showa Nittan has boosted its capacity with long-term charters for 11 small clean tankers.

Brokers reported that vessels ranging between 1,200 dwt and 5,000 dwt have been brought in on five-year deals.

Rates have not been disclosed.

The ships are owned by a number of Japanese players.

Mitsuhama Kisen is providing two of the biggest units chartered by Showa Nittan: the 5,000-dwt Kinyou (built 2013) and Kintai Maru (built 2005).
