Azerbaijan-born shipowner Mubariz Mansimov may soon be released from custody in Turkey just as his trial over aiding a terrorist organisation begins.

The Haberturk daily reported that Turkish prosecutors have said the owner of tanker company Palmali Holding could be freed under judicial supervision.

They have accused Mansimov, who was arrested in March 2020, of links to an outlawed group headed by Fethullah Gulen — an opponent of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
