Tankers have hit highs not seen since the rush for cheap oil and floating storage supercharged the market in spring 2020.

The Baltic Dirty Tanker Index rose 106 points on Thursday to hit 1,653, its highest level since 24 April 2020, when it hit 1,550.

“The Atlantic market still continues to drive the market as owners push for more each fixture, especially off tighter laycans,” Howe Robinson said of the VLCC market in its daily report.
