US-listed Tsakos Energy Navigation (TEN) has fixed out a 10-year-old suezmax tanker to oil major Chevron for two years at a strong rate.

The 158,000-dwt Pentathlon (built 2009) has been fixed at $29,000 per day, according to European brokers.

The charter comes amid rising rates for crude tankers. Clarksons' latest assessment of the rate on a one-year suezmax charter stands at $37,500 per day, up from $28,000 a week earlier.
