Eight of cash-strapped Varun Shipping’s fleet of LPG carriers have been put up for scrap sale amid talk that the Indian company has ceased trading.

Demolition brokers say offers are being invited by end-November on the 76,664-cbm VLGC Maharshi Bhardwaj (built 1992) along with the 43,670-cbm Maharshi Shubhatreya (built 1982), the 35,639-cbm sisterships Maharshi Mahatreya, Maharshi Krishnatreya, and Maharshi Bhavatreya (all built 1991), and Maharshi Devatreya (built 1990).

The ships are being marketed on the basis of delivery to an Indian scrapyard.
