Japan’s Nakashima Propeller Co has taken a majority stake in Becker Marine Systems, the company behind several maritime energy-saving devices such as the Mewis duct.

The two companies, which first began working together in the late 1970s, said together they can make good use of the product portfolios that "complement each other well in the aft ship area”.

Nakashima Propeller describes itself as the “world market leader for propellers”, while German-based Becker Marine Systems is a leading manufacturer of high-efficiency rudders.
