Evangelos Marinakis is a big man. Not just physically, but also in influence.
Today he sits at the head of two listed entities as well as a private shipping company.
Capital Maritime & Trading, which manages the fleets of both the listed companies as well as Marinakis’s private vessels, according to its website currently controls 43 ships including newbuildings and vessels purchased but not yet delivered.
Crude Carriers Corp was launched this year, completing its initial public offering (IPO) in March and within a couple of months had already grown to more than one million dwt and a fleet of two VLCCs and three modern suezmaxes, with the option to acquire a third VLCC from Capital Maritime & Trading after it is delivered.
