Royal Dutch Shell chief executive Ben van Beurden is gearing up to unveil plans to turn his oil and gas group into a broad-based energy company. He will explain that Shell will cut its carbon output and work inside an overall framework set out under the Paris Agreement on climate change.
That means the business will attempt to make decisions that will allow it to meet the goals of holding further increases in global warming to 2C.
