STANTON Capital Corp, the US venture-capital investor behind failed dot.com MaritimeDirect, has emerged as the recent seller of a majority stake in Estonian Shipping Co (Esco).

Esco said last month that Norway's Tschudi & Eitzen had taken majority control after buying shares of US investors.

Sources say Stanton was the holder of around 65% of the paper and that it sold out to try to recoup some of its money after dismal showings in both MaritimeDirect and US owner Millenium Seacarriers.
