The Angelicoussis group has emerged as the buyer of a VLCC that was earlier said to have been sold to Alpha Freighters & Tankers.
The 305,000-dwt tanker Samco Asia (built 2003) was purchased for a reported $33.5m in a deal negotiated by Maria Angelicoussis, daughter of group head John Angelicoussis.
“We are very happy to have bought such a good ship at this time of the market,” Maria Angelicoussis said.
