Private-equity fund MC-Seamax Management has bought two post-panamax boxships from Evangelos Marinakis-led Capital Ship Management Corp, say broking sources.
MC-Seamax — the joint venture between Mitsubishi Corp of Japan and US-based Seamax Partners — is understood to have acquired two 9,400-teu vessels with five-year charters to Cosco.
Brokers say the ships are sisters to three units Capital Ship sold to Ship Finance International (SFI) in June, suggesting the pair are the 9,443-teu Aisopos (built 2014) and Andronikos, set for delivery early next year, according to Alphaliner data.
