Peter Hackmann, Meyer Werft’s head of corporate communications, stressed to TradeWinds that the MOU was not a firm order for a vessel.

“We will conduct an investigation and study with Pelni to see what things have changed in Indonesia with regards to route and passenger demand. Our task is to determine what kind of ship will meet the needs of Pelni in the future. Of course, we hope that this will eventually lead to a letter of intent [LOI] and a firm contract,” he said.
