Polemis’s Polembros Shipping has bought the 114,000-dwt tanker Elia (built 2006) from Seaarland Shipping.
Polembros general manager George Vakirtzis confirms the deal but says a rumoured price of $36m — which would have been a new benchmark for aframaxes — is incorrect.
He declines to reveal how much was paid for the Elia. London-based brokers suggest a lower figure of around $34m.
Meanwhile, Polembros has sold the Namura-built, 105,000-dwt Tinos Warrior (built 1997), which brokers suggest has gone to an Indonesian buyer for $9.8m,
