SBICO set-up to tackle domestic competition

Shipbuilding Industry Corp of China Changjiang National Shipping Group (SBICO) chief executive officer Li Wen De says the marketing activities of Jinling, Qingshan, Jiangdong and Yichang shipyards have now been merged into the new entity. SBICO will give all four yards enough clout to tackle increasing competition from domestic shipyards and at the same time reduce internal competition.

All orders at the shipyards will be arranged through SBICO, which will then parcel out the contracts to individual facilities that will function as production plants.
