The pact was one of the headline achievements from a meeting between Abe and Brazil president Dilma Rouseff last Friday.
As part of the deal IHI Corp, a partner in Japan Marine United (JMU), signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Brazil’s Atlantico Sul Shipyard and the Federal University of Pernambuco on an offshore and shipbuilding industry technology exchange pact.
In addition to sending engineers to Atlantico Sul, in which it is already an equity partner, IHI has agreed to send engineers to the university as part of a shipbuilding training course.
