Tokio Marine and Fire Insurance and the Standard Steamship Owners' Protection and Indemnity Association are joining forces to offer liability cover to Japanese shipowners.
The deal will take the Standard Club into the Japanese market, posing a threat to the Japan P&I Club as well as other insurers such as the UK, Gard and Britannia Clubs, who have important Japanese shipowner members.
