South Korea’s Daehan Shipbuilding confirmed its first neo-panamax container ship newbuilding contract.

The Haenam-based shipyard said it has secured four 7,200-teu newbuildings from Greek shipowner Danaos Corp.

TradeWinds reported about the order on 7 April.

Daehan Shipbuilding has typically focused on building suezmax and aframax tankers, but diversified into the container ship segment last year after securing a series of 1,000-teu feeder ships from domestic owner Pan Ocean.
