Finland’s Coast Guard is increasingly concerned about accidents involving shadow fleet tankers carrying Russian oil through the Gulf of Finland.

Potentially hundreds of vessels of unknown ownership that could be in poor condition may pose environmental risks, domestic media has reported.

And there are worries that all the costs of any spill would fall on Finland and other Baltic states due to questions over whether all these ships are insured.
