Jotun’s roots date back to 1926, when Odd Gleditsch Sr took over failing Norwegian paint producer Jotun Kemiske Fabrik. It was under bank control and on the verge of going bust.

His son, former chief executive and chairman Odd Gleditsch Jr, 88, tells TW+ that his father already owned a thriving agencies business in the southeastern city of Sandefjord, supplying everything from ropes to radio equipment.
