Mission: Safe Ocean — a 1,000km kitesurf from Mozambique to Kenya that entered waters designated high risk due to the piracy threat — was born of Jacob Bliksted Sorensen’s two passions: shipping and kitesurfing.
The Dane, who has spent his career in shipping, most recently working for Pacific Basin, wanted to do something to address the financial and human costs of piracy that are felt by international shipping, as well as by local communities in Africa, where the impact on livelihoods has been severe in Somalia.
