The five-bladed 80-tonne giant was winched above the main entrance at Hamburg Messe on Thursday morning, next to the city’s television tower.
The propeller has a diameter of more than nine metres and was made by Mecklenburger Metallguss (MMG).
It was built for German owner ER Schiffahrt, which is installing the design on 13 new boxships.
