Indonesia’s New Priok Port, the first phase of which came into operation in August 2016, is being built to attract the larger boxships operating mainline services back to Tanjung Priok, the country’s main gateway port near Jakarta.

But Indonesian maritime and port authorities will have some serious convincing to do among mainline box players if this is to happen, a study by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development for the International Transport Forum suggests.
