French containership giant CMA CGM is due to ink its long-awaited large boxship order for up to nine newbuildings with Chinese shipbuilders next month.

TradeWinds has learnt that a signing ceremony has been pencilled in for 21 September.

CSSC's Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) and Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding are expected to split the order for the 22,000-teu vessels.

But prior to this a key management meeting is scheduled to take place at the end of this month at CMA CGM’s headquarters in Marseille, as company executives return from their summer vacations.
