Several Dutch ports are set to appeal against the European Commission’s decision that they must pay corporation tax from 1 January 2017.

The parties taking the action are the Port of Rotterdam Authority, together with the Amsterdam Port Authority, Groningen Seaports, the Moederdijk Port Authority, the Port of Den Helder and Zeeland Seaports.

“We are not against paying corporation tax, but then it should apply to all European sea ports,” said Paul Smits, financial director of the Port of Rotterdam Authority
