German container line Hapag-Lloyd has denied the possibility of a merger with French giant CMA CGM.
Reuters reported the company had received an exploratory takeover approach from the French giant in recent months, but it was rebuffed.
A spokesperson told TradeWinds there was not the "slightest truth" to the report, which cited three unnamed finance sources.
One said a deal had been proposed as a non-cash merger.
