The Panama Canal Authority is to hold a lottery to pick the first ship to pass through the expanded waterway.
The draw will take place on Friday, on a dedicated live youtube channel.
The special first passage will be on 26 June.
An unnamed child will draw the lucky ship name from a hat, or possibly a huge glass ball, at the Panama Canal Administration Building, with a notary public serving as a witness.
