France’s biggest port has entered the final phase of a construction project that will allow it to welcome mega-ships.

Marseill Fos said works costing almost EUR 64m ($70.8m) will enlarge the port entrance and recommission the giant No 10 drydock.

After four years of work, Marseille Fos is now braced for regular calls from cruiseships exceeding 360 metres.

The works will enlarge the entrance from 190 to 240 metres and also enhance turning space for the latest generation vessels.
