Swedish authorities have shut down a river channel around a partially sunken bulker at Lilla Edet lock.
The coastguard said the Gota River maritime administration had decided to temporarily close the area to traffic until further notice after the 1,350-dwt Sterno (built 1970) grounded on Friday.
It added all six merchant ships that were north of Lilla Edet when the accident occurred have been able to move past the stricken vessel.
