A collision between a veteran livestock carrier and a Russian naval warship has resulted in the sinking of the latter in Turkish waters earlier today.

The incident happened near Turkey’s Black Sea coast prompting an evacuation but without any casualties reported.

Russia’s vessel – named Liman – collided with the 2,560-dwt Youzar Sif H (built 1977), Reuters reports.

Shipping agent GAC said the two ships collided in fog and low visibility with the Russian ship suffering a hole as a result of the incident.
