Chilean authorities are due to okay a salvage plan for a wellboat newbuilding that sank in October.

The 2,500-dwt live fish carrier Seikongen (built 2017) went down off Puerto Montt.

Its 67,000 litres of oil have been removed, while a large part of the cargo of salmon has also been taken from the vessel.

The owner, CPT Empresa Maritima, is now awaiting navy approval for the salvage.
