The Sheriff Court in Greenock, Scotland,heard that the 3,000–dwt Coastal Isle (built 1991) was en route from Belfast toGreenock in the early hours of 2 July, 2012, when it ran aground at GarrochPoint.

The crew of 10 was uninjured, but serious damagewas caused to one-third of the ship’s length.

The fore peak tank was found to be rupturedafter the vessel was refloated.
