The 1,432-passenger Oscar Wilde (built 1987) was carrying morethan 500 people from Ireland to Cherbourg on Monday night, but had to abandonits approach in bad weather.
The vessel, which had departed from Rosslare, madeseveral attempts to dock with the assistance of tugs in winds of up to 100kmper hour.
It was five hours late even making it to the harbour.
The injured crewman was hurt by a snapped line.
