Accordingto a new report issued by the US Coast Guard (USCG) the 23,100-dwt Nave Polaris(built 2011) was held in Alameda, California when officials found that one ofits emergency fire pumps was not in working order or available for immediateuse at the time of inspection.

“During the port state control exam, the emergency fire pump wasdiscovered inoperable (failed to start) limiting the crew’s firefightingcapabilities in the event of an emergency,” inspectors wrote in a citationdetailing the deficiency.

One
