The blaze broke out on the 2,824-teu Lilac (built 2005) on Saturdaywhile it was at anchor off Table Bay with 21 men on board.
A National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) rescuer was transferred on to the ship to make an evaluation and confirmed that no crewwere injured and that they were continuing to fight a fire in hold number 2.
White smoke could be observed coming from the ship.
