The US Coast Guard (USCG) said the 21,300–dwt Rich Forest (built 1982) was adrift andsinking 440 miles west of the island on Monday.
It was taking on 160 tons of water per hour. Generators havefailed.
The crew of 24 is safe after taking to lifeboats.
The vessel was carrying logs to China when it experiencedflooding in the engine room, which cut the power.
