The incident happened at the GS Caltex Wharf No 2 at 0935 local time on Friday, the Singapore shipowner confirmed.

The 318,445-dwt Wu Yi San (built 2012) was under the control of two port pilots and assisted by five harbour tugs when it came into contact with the shore jetty and pipeline.

“Our vessel sustained some minor damage on the forward part of the vessel, but there was no oil spillage from the vessel,” Ocean Tankers told TradeWinds.

“The master reported that all crew onboard are safe. Presently the vessel is safely moored in the anchorage.

“We are co-operating with the government authorities in their investigation and on-going cleaning up activities.”

The Singapore-flagged tanker is reported to be hauling a cargo of North Sea crude oil to South Korea under charter to oil major Shell.

The nature of the pipeline damage and spill are still being investigated and the Korean coastguard is responding to the incident, Shell said in a statement.
