Local media said transport minister Ameen Ibrahim has ordereda safety audit following the incident on Monday at Male.
The men were hit by a falling container after a winch wiresnapped on the 500–teu Morning Viship (built 1996), operated by Viship ofVietnam.
They were named as Mohamed Nashid, 32, and Ibrahim Shareef,36.
The accident is under investigation.
