A Piraeus court found him guilty of “disruption of safety in sea transportation” connected to maintenance of the 27,000-dwt ship (built 1976), which went down in 1997, 30 miles west of Ushant in bad weather with the loss of all 25 lives.

Lemos, 84, who ran London-based Panagiotis A Lemos & Associates, was not in court to hear the verdict.

The London resident is not commenting on the case.
